The small town of Stykkishólmur has much to offer. The town itself is charming and like an open air museum with all of it´s old historic houses. Surrounded by beautiful nature there are many sightseeing opportunities not the least if you are planning to explore the whole Snæfellsnes peninsula. The tourist information office is located by the swimming pool where you can get detailed information about activities and what the area has to offer. Here are a few of our recommendations:

Breiðafjörður Bay:  Explore the bay of the thousand islands on a tour with Seatours.  They offer a unique close-up experience of the islands, a rare chance to bird watch in close proximity while enjoying some Viking Sushi fresh from the sea. During the high season they offer up to four tours per day as well as dinner aboard during the evenings.

Súgandisey:  This is the island by the harbour and can be reached by foot.  There are stairs leading to the top of the island where you can see the "Love-nest" and the old lighthouse which is more than 100 years old. The view is spectacular.

City Walk:  Stykkishólmur is like an open air museum with all of it´s old houses.  Check out the old church, Hotel Egilsen and the Gallery Tang & Riis which are all conveniently located next to each other close to the harbour.

The Swimming Pool:  Icelanders love their swimming pools.  Go for a swim in the swimming pool and relax in the hot tubs.
